Survey Says: I Got Tagged

I feel 15 again...taking a survey as I was tagged by my good friend Beth at Peaches & Curry.

Like any good survey, there are rules:

1) Link to the person who tagged you.
2) Paste these rules on your blog post.
3) Respond to the following prompts.

4) Add a prompt of your own and answer it.
5) Tag a few other bloggers at the bottom of the post.
6) Leave “Tagged You” notices on their blog/Facebook. (I'm free from the shackles of FB, so y'all people are getting old school EMAILS.)
7) Let the person who tagged you know when you’ve written the post.

And I know you wait with bated breath for my answers, so here it goes.

1) The best investment you ever made:
Hmmm...well, I tend to be a bargain hunter, so big-ticket items I don't go for very often. One of the first things I do when I move somewhere new (and I feel like I've done it a LOT here lately) is march straight to the local library and apply for a library card. It's one of my favorite things to transport me to fascinating places and inform me of things I'd otherwise never know - and it didn't cost a dime (ok, well, if taxes and my occasional overdue fines are excluded.) Totally worth the time it takes to endure surly library staffers and long checkout lines.

2) If you could’ve written any book, directed any movie, and composed any song, which three would you pick:
Book: Tie between The Great Gatsby and The Secret Garden.
Movie: Amelie, or that cult classic The Big Lebowski. "Just call me The Dude... or El Duderino, if you're not into the whole brevity thing."
Song: Any Nina Simone tune, particularly "Mississippi Goddamn." That woman was a firecracker.

3) Weirdest quirk:
I can't leave anything dirty in a sink. Seriously, dirty dishes are nasty and I will wash them even if they're not mine.

4) One wish immediately granted:
Uh, 30 pounds GONE, and never to return.

5) Most expensive hobby:
Traveling.

6) An inexhaustible gift-card at which store:

I know T.J. Maxx is not upscale enough, but as I said, I'm a bargain shopper! Williams-Sonoma wouldn't be bad, either.

7) In another lifetime, you’d be:
Julia Child.

8) The most famous/interesting member of your family tree:
On my mom's side, the Colonial Governor James Moore. On my dad's side, Adolph Nussman, the first Lutheran minister in North Carolina.

9) What would you say to your teenage self?
Stay curious about the world, and yes, you are beautiful.

10) Which celebrity would you most want to look like?
None of them! Too much maintenance at high costs!

11) What would your last meal be?
An oyster roast, with chocolate cake and champagne for dessert!

12) What's your favorite place on earth?
On a mountain. Best places thus far are St. Mary's Lake in Glacier Park, Montana, and Max Patch on the NC/TN line.

Consider yourselves tagged: Shelby, Lannae, and Emily
And don’t forget to add your question at the end!

  1. #3 oh so true! I remember how you just jumped on our dishes when you were here and since then we've made sure to have a clean sink when you guys were visiting!
    #8 that's really cool!

  2. Yeah, I get a little tight-assed about the dish thing. I don't know where it comes from, but I have always loved doing dishes. Throw an apron on, give me some tunes to dance around and sing along to while I wash and dry, and I am good. But don't pile them up. I hate that!
